The article raises important, thought provoking questions. However this article so demands some perspective, understanding of history, grasp of cultural struggles around the world. I am dealing with very young people steeped in self loathing, USA hating, Constitution/,Bill of Rights Ignorance, and narcissistic intolerance of ANY idea or value not congruent with theirs. I have colleagues who are Libertarian and follow their pages. I was responding philosophically about the swastika and hammer & sickle comparison. I don’t support police brutality…or any brutality for that fact. I think however if we want to stop brutality per se we need to understand the one who inflicts the brutality to fully resolve this social ill. Not just from police but parent, spouses, dog owners. I want people to stop blaming and start understanding.Thanks Jonathan. This may not be the best forum for ideas and thoughts. However, there is a page associated with FEE that I have found to be generally more receptive to open discourse. That is currently and historically the most evil symbol on the planet, forever. The swastika and Nazism was small potatoes compared to the massive feast of death under communism and all of its variants. One is predicated on racial superiority the other on racial superiority but with an asterisk and hatred of the wealthy! Millions More have died under this banner than the Swastika, but who cares about FACTS and History when the Media tells people what to think, who to hate, and who to like. I agree thoroughly. I think the Rainbow banner of the LGBTQ should also be absolutely considered a hate symbol. It is all about hatred of God. I’m going to be pointed but it’s because of ignorance. Ignorance that in large part is responsible for the envy of these same systems now. This is a failure on the part of basic state education and higher education in pointing out the evils of Communism/Socialism and treating it like it’s this great alternative to Capitalism because of their own liberal ideologies and ignorance. The Hammer and Sickle symbol is just as odious and deadly as the Swastika. They are both socialist totalitarian symbols that crush people, their own people and others. Fools ignorant of history and of political science/philosophy speak otherwise.
